This is one of my most fav X5 stories. It's such an incredibly well thought out representation of how Manticore brainwashed their soldiers. And such a sad, touching story. I just want to hug poor Syl for the torture they put her through! Great work dude :)

Wow dude, I don't think I've read this story before, and... wow! This was a beautifully told fic, I really like how you tied in Jondy's guilt of abandoning the baby with her guilt of abandoning Max. I see there's a sequal to this at the forum and I can't wait to upload it so I can check it out! Right now though, I'm really off to cook dinner. I'm going this time... off I go... cooking cooking... *sigh* I hate cooking...

Wow, I can't believe how well you get inside the heads of these kids. Reading your Manticore fics is like watching a flashback scene on DA, except unlike the fleeting images images of Manticore we would occassional get insights of on the show, you give us a entire scene in exquisite detail. One of my favourite parts of this fic was this: "Sir, permission to ask a question, sir," he said softly. The doctor looked up at him and lowered his eyebrows, "You don't have to ask permission to speak to me son." Through the whole story I could completely believe that this is exactly how the young X5's would respond to the testing, the occassional illness, the terror of what it might all mean. And the docto's response to Ben's "permission to speak" really struck me. I'd love to read a fic one day from the POV of one of these doctors *wink wink hint* and how it must effect them to be surrounded by these child-soldiers, when their own kids could well be the same age. This story is certainly one that makes a person sit for a while and just think. Great work! :)

I remember reading this story absolute ages ago, not long after I first found my way into the DA fandom. It was one of a growing list of favourites and I saved it onto a disc to print out at my course, then lost the disc and forgot where I'd found the story. So I was really happy to find this fic again at your archive Mystic! I really enjoy this story as I do all of your fics :)

When you take the show at face value and don't look too deeply into character such as Alec who found their lives turned upside down by Manticore's destruction, it's easy to presume they're coping fine with suddenly being forced into the outside world. That's why I love fics like this - it makes you look deeper than the facade the writers gave us, to see how they're really handling their new lives. This story gets in there like that, and shows you how hard it must be for Alec at times, to know that he was once someone with a very focused purpose in life - even if it was a purpose assigned to him by his superiors - and now that his has been taken away from him, he has to sort out who he really is, and how to fit into a world that he's not really shaped for, all the time knowing that he'll never truly fit in and that he's sort of living a contradiction. Okay, I'm rambling now... But anyway, that's what I liked the most about this story - it gets you thinking. :)

I always love this kind of abstract style of writing. It's like paining art with words. :)
This is the kind of scenario I could just see unfolding between Max and Logan, they don't tend to get into big discussions about what's going on with themselves of each other, and sometimes it's better that way anyway. Sometimes all that waiting for the other person to speak is a good way to figure what's going on within your own head so that by the time the other person's uttered their few words, it's all been silently said and understood anyway. Sometimes.
So, well done! :)

Asides from enjoying this story for your descriptive terms and angst atmosphere and addictively interesting plot, you do an incredible job of getting right inside their heads and then putting words into their mouths in just the way I could see it playing out if the show's writers themselves had penned it. Max mulling over Logan's behaviour while she's setting the table - slamming down the plates when she realises he thinks her a killer, snapping at him when she thinks he's going to 'guilt her out again'. ...It couldn't be written more perfect. And I loved this line:

It wasn't that she thought of him as fragile, really, but as human.

Gah! I was just going to read this chapter and then come back to the fic later after carrying out whatever it was I'd planned to do with my morning. Now you've left me hanging with a cliffer and I have to read on! Loved the irony of a window to the coronors being left open after all the efforts they'd put into their firewall. And even more so, loved this quote here:

What was Logan talking about with his firewall-of-doom crap? Probably just mad that he couldn't hack it.

I can perfectly picture Max mumbling that one beneath her breath or something. Hehe. Great work :)

Okay, I think I've left more reviews in the past hour than I have in weeks. Loved the fairytale metaphors in this chapter - how both Logan and Max found themselves mulling over palaces or prisons, a king surveying his kingdom, a knight on a quest to rid the world of evil in a world where right and wrong aren't always opposite... Nice touch! Now I have to come back to the story later. Look forward to reading the rest. :)

Author's Response: Hello, I just wanted to thank you for the thoughtful reviews you left for “Supernova.” I’m glad that you’re enjoying the story (and hope that you enjoy the whole thing, if you’ve not finished it already ;)) and really do appreciate that you took the time to leave such generous comments. They make posting worth the effort, eh? Take care, intodust

Author's Response: Mmm, I do have a general idea for one, but it's on the backburner for now. And then another one after that. LOL I don't think I;m capable of writing a stand alone and then just leaving it alone.

Ah, I just loved the part where Jondy sees the FN flag on TV and next minute she gets a phone call from Zane. It made me grin and "whoot!" inside my head. Is it a series or standalone? I think it would work great as either. Anyway, great work dude. :)

Author's Response: Cheers mate, I never really thought about making it into a series- I might just do that though, if I can come up with a decent plot. Someone once suggested that I do a series of standalones for the '09ers which I'm thinking of doing. I already have Seth, Ben, Tinga and Zack in the works.
